France

France was the first European Country I visited in the mid 1980s. Of course it was Paris. I'd heard how rude Parisians and the French were but it wasn't so. Mostly I remember how at ease I felt.

Lourmarin is referred to as a commune in the Vaucluse department in the Provence Alpes-Cote d'Azur. I thought of it aa a small town or village in the Luberon part of Provence. It is a great place to stay because of it's easy access to other destinations in the area that are frequently loaded with tourists. It also has a restaurant that was one of the best dining experiences of my last 34 days in all of France. It's name is Numero Neuf. I addition to Numero Neuf Leurmarin has many galleries and shops selling local artisan foods, clothing and wines.

Rue Obscure is a short tunnel that was once a street in beautiful Villefranche Sur Mer. Both the waterfront town and it's obscure street can transport the pedestrian visitor to another time. Villefranche is a portal for your imagination and if it needs a kick start then start with Rue Obscure just up from Hotel Welcome.

Going to Versailles wasn't high on my list of places to visit primarily because I knew it would be so well manicured. But there were a few surprises. The Murakami exhibit being the first. The Murakami pieces contrasted against classical Versailles was refreshing. And then there was a pond where Marie Antoinette would go to get away from it all while getting away from it all.
